The savings can be substantial, but so is the range in quality between clinics — which makes due diligence essential.
Common Procedures
Dental implants replace missing teeth with a titanium (or zirconia) post fused to the jawbone, topped with a crown. Veneers are thin shells bonded to the front of existing teeth, typically chosen for cosmetic smile makeovers. Full-mouth rehabilitation combines multiple treatments — implants, crowns, sometimes bone grafting — for patients with extensive dental damage or long-neglected care. All three can usually be started and, depending on complexity, completed or substantially progressed within a single multi-day trip.
Why Prices Differ From the US, UK and EU
Dental treatment in Turkey is typically priced well below equivalent private care in North America or Western Europe. Several structural factors contribute to this: lower clinical labor and facility costs, a highly competitive clinic market driving prices down, and a currency exchange rate that has historically favored patients paying in stronger foreign currencies. These are real, structural reasons for lower prices — not, on their own, evidence of lower quality. But because the range of clinic quality is wide, price alone is not a reliable signal of what you'll receive.
Accreditation Basics
JCI (Joint Commission International) accreditation is one of the most widely recognized international healthcare quality certifications, and a number of major Turkish hospitals hold it. JCI accreditation verifies that a facility meets defined standards for patient safety, infection control, and quality management — but it's typically awarded to hospitals, and a standalone dental clinic operating under or near an accredited hospital is not automatically covered by the same certification. Always confirm exactly what is and isn't accredited, and verify the certificate directly with the accrediting body rather than taking a clinic's website claim at face value.
What to Check Before Booking
- Materials used — ask specifically which implant brand, veneer material (e.g. porcelain vs composite) and crown material will be used, and get this in writing.
- Warranty terms — many clinics offer a warranty on implants or crowns; understand exactly what it covers, for how long, and whether it requires return travel to Turkey to honor it.
- Dentist qualifications — ask for the treating dentist's specific qualifications and experience with your particular procedure, not just the clinic's general marketing claims.
- Treatment timeline — complex cases (implants especially) often require healing time between stages; make sure your travel itinerary realistically matches the clinical timeline, not the other way around.
- Follow-up care — clarify what happens if you need adjustments after you've returned home, and identify a local dentist who can monitor your recovery in the meantime.
